Make a Wolf Tales recording at Sisterhood Day

Held every year to celebrate the accomplishments of NC State women, the Sisterhood Dinner provides a night of fine dining, education and entertainment for hundreds of attendees. And, this year, the Council on the Status of Women is expanding the traditional Sisterhood Dinner with a daytime event. Come for Sisterhood Day on Monday, Feb. 26 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the third floor of the Talley Student Union. Students, faculty, and staff can attend workshops and dance performances, enjoy coloring pages, and learn more about campus organizations that are related to women's issues.

And this year, attendees can sit down to make a Wolf Tales recording together.

Wolf Tales, the mobile video oral history program of the NCSU Libraries Special Collections Research Center (SCRC), is devoted to preserving the university’s many stories with a special focus on documenting student and alumni voices and other historically underrepresented narratives. The NC State community can easily access many of the program’s 99 recordings to date online, and can look forward to more recordings being made available soon.

Wolf Tales is a perfect match because the theme of this year’s Sisterhood Day and Dinner is “Speaking Truth through Our Stories.” The theme highlights voices that are often marginalized. By providing space to celebrate and uplift different voices and stories we are able to strengthen the fabric that makes us NC State. The NCSU Libraries Makerspace and "Making Space" series of talks and workshops will also be represented at the event.

To make a Wolf Tales recording at Sisterhood Day, either sign up to reserve a session or drop in at the event.

In other programing at Sisterhood Day, participants will hear from a student participant in the Women’s Center’s Politics of Black Hair project as well as Mandy Carter, a social justice advocate with 51-year history of working with social, racial and LGBTQ justice organizations. This year’s event is set to be uplifting, motivating and inspirational.

The events are sponsored by the Council on the Status of Women, NC State Foundation and the NC State Women’s Center.

The Sisterhood Dinner will be held Monday, Feb. 26, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the State Ballroom of the Talley Student Union. Sisterhood Dinner table registration is $300 for eight seats. Individual registration is $35 per seat. Register for the dinner by Friday, February 16, 2018. Contact the Women’s Center at 919.515.2012 with questions.
